HTC has forecast consolidated revenues of NT$42-47 billion (US$1.40-1.57 billion) for the third quarter of 2014, decreasing 27.8-35.5% on quarter, gross margin of 22.5-23.0% and net EPS of NT$0.05-0.69, according to company CFO and Global Sales president Chang Chia-lin.

The revenue drop for the third quarter is mainly because shipments of the HTC One (M8) are expected to decrease after being launched for a while, Chang said.

HTC has enhanced marketing in China and India, and expects shipments in China in the fourth quarter to rise 20-30% sequentially, and third-quarter shipments in India to double on quarter, Chang indicated.

HTC will unveil the HTC J Butterfly HTL23 in Japan on August 19 for contract-bundled sale by KDDI. The smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 5-inch Full HD SLCD touch screen, 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras. The smartphone will also be launched in Taiwan, China and Southeast Asia.
