Lenovo has talked about cooperation with Compal Electronics to launch Windows 8 notebooks for sale at US$199-249 during the year-end peak sales period, according to Taiwan-supply chain makers.

Since there is only about four months left for development, production, and distribution of the notebooks to retail, Lenovo has had its chief COO Gianfranco Lanci directly talk with Compal president Ray Chen about the cooperation, instead of going through normal the request-for-quotation process, the sources indicated.
