Acquisitions are the name of the game now that mainstream tech companies are trying to get involved in the growing smart home industry. Apple, Google, and many others are all launching their own smart home services, and Samsung wants in on the fun. Samsung has reportedly purchased smart home company SmartThings for an impressive $200 million.

SmartThings' platform is setup to work with smart home devices from all sorts of companies, making it more a central hub than anything else. The $200 million price tag hasn't been confirmed, but Recode is reporting that figure as accurate. Since Google spent well over $3 billion on Nest, another smart home product company, Samsung seems to have gotten away with a pretty good deal.
