Quanta Computer expects to ship 25-26 million notebooks in the second half of 2014, growing 13.6-18.2% from the first half. Shipments in the whole year will reach 47-48 million units, increasing 9-11.4% on year, according to company vice chairman CC Leung.
Quanta shipped 11.5 million notebooks in the second quarter of 2014 and expects shipments in the third quarter to rise over 10% sequentially, Leung said. In addition to notebooks, Quanta expects tablet shipments in the second half to increase 5-7% on year, Leung noted.
Quanta saw second-quarter gross margin and net operating profit increase on quarter because of significant shipment growth in non-notebook product lines, but the corresponding net profit slipped 13% mainly due to foreign exchange losses of NT$192 million (US$6.4 million). |
