HTC is on a roll today. After announcing the impressive Butterfly 2 for Asian markets, the Taiwanese company has upped its game by announcing their latest Windows Phone offering. You knew it was coming, and you have been waiting for it patiently all along. HTC gives you, the HTC One (M8) for Windows.
Sporting the same set of specifications - Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2 GB RAM, 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage, 5-inch 1080p SLCD3 display, 4 MP UltraPixel camera with 2 MP duo-camera setup, 5 MP wide-angle front facing camera, 4G LTE support, 2,600 mAh battery and Windows Phone 8.1 - and an identical design, the HTC One (M8) for Windows is every bit like the original Android flagship, except that the software running the show is from team Microsoft.
However, it isn't all stock Windows Phone that you get. HTC has ported some of their features such as BlinkFeed (oh no!), Duo Cam, Sense TV and a few other apps as well. The camera app loses control over finer aspects, such as manual exposure. But for most users, it will suffice.
The HTC One (M8) for Windows is exclusive to US carrier Verizon. Sale of the same will commence on August 19th, with a price of $99 with a two-year contract. |
