Samsung, in association with Barnes & Noble, announced their first co-branded tablet today. We have known about the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook for quite some time now, but the official announcement was pending, until earlier today. It comes with an attractive price tag of just $179, making it a valuable proposition as a regular Android tablet as well.

B&N software will dominate your experience, as it replaces Samsung's TouchWiz UX. Barnes & Noble claim that it is bundling about $200 worth of content with the new Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. The goodies range from bestselling books to TV shows, movies and magazines. There's also $5 of store credit thrown in. The best part is that unlike Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets, which are direct competitors, this B&N branded Samsung tablet offers full access to the Google Play Store apps roster.

Coming to the hardware, the Galaxy Tab 4 won't make you look twice. It's got a 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, 3 MP rear and 1.3 MP front cameras, microSD card slot, 1 GB RAM, a quad-core Snapdragon chipset and some Samsung software features such as Multi-Window.

For now, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook has only been launched in the US. Its price is $199, but an instant $20 rebate brings it down to $179 (for now).
