Acer has announced its eight-core 4G LTE smartphone, the Liquid X1, featuring a 13-megapixel camera with Acer's Zoom Fit, Rapid and Float user interfaces, and Acer's Extend cross-platform display feature in Taiwan.

Acer has been cooperating with telecom carriers worldwide to sell its smartphones. The company originally planned to expand its smartphone sales to 25 countries in 2014, but the number has already reached 31 so far.

Acer CEO Jason Chen pointed out that Acer has become the third-largest smartphone vendor in Thailand and Belgium and will visit the Philippines soon to promote its smartphone products.

Commenting on the concerns of market watchers that Acer risks having an excess inventory of smart mobile devices in the fourth quarter, Chen said that inventory management is currently the priority at Acer. Acer will keep an eye on its inventory level to prevent profits from being undermined, Chen noted.

Acer shipped 1.5 million smartphones in 2013 and shipped two million units in the first half of 2014. The company is expected to ship another two million units in the second half to achieve a 166% on-year growth in shipments for the entire year.
