Google's modular phone project, dubbed Project Ara, has gotten cheaper ever since Google added support for Rockship SoCs. Basically, the fabless semiconductor company from China is designing a special SoC for the modular phone project, meeting its specifications.

At present, Project Ara prototypes are powered by SoCs from Texas Instruments.
