A 4K OLED television might sound awesome, but the price associated with it is so great that almost everyone will be turned away. LG has announced that the first ever 4K OLED TV will be made available in September, and it will be selling for upwards of $11,000. Pre-orders will be accepted in South Korea beginning this week.

There are two 4K OLED televisions that LG will be shipping this year. The first is 65-inches and the other 77-inches. According to the Associated Press, the smallest of the two will be sold for $11,766, so we can only imagine what LG will charge for the larger TV.
Both will be running LG's webOS platform, so at least customers will be getting a smart TV for the incredibly high price tag. OLED TVs are always expensive, even when they are only running at a resolution of 1080p, much less 4K. For comparison, a 55-inch 1080p OLED television from LG costs more than $3,000, and it isn't even "future-proof." |
