LG officially announced its new Smartwatch today. The LG G Watch R is based on Google's Android Wear platform and comes with a circular display. Also, it is being touted as the world's first gadget to feature a P-OLED (plastic) display that makes up 100% of the watch face. Impressive? Hell yeah!

At first glance, the LG G Watch R looks indistinguishable from any other stylish sports watch. Of course, the big difference is that the front 1.3-inch 320 x 320 display is actually a touchscreen. The G Watch R is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.2 GHz, and comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB internal storage.
Additionally, the G Watch R is IP67 certified, meaning it is both water (up to 30 minutes, at a depth of 1m) and dust resistant. The wearable comes with a PPG (photoplethysmography) that can accurately measure your heart rate, a 9-axis sensor and a barometer as well.
Battery life is something that wasn't talked about, although we expect it to last a complete day thanks to the 410 mAh unit.
The LG G Watch R will come in Black and White colors, stainless steel and leather straps starting from Q4 2014. Pricing details are yet to be announced. |
