Apple has begun sending out invitations to its event on September 9, confirming the date for what is expected to be its unveiling of the iPhone 6 and perhaps a smartwatch. The press event will be taking place near the Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California. Apple rarely gives information about its upcoming announcements, and that is the same this year.

Other than the date of the event, Apple only included "Wish we could say more" on the invitation. Journalists and other lucky members of the media will be visiting the Flint Center for the Performing Arts for the event.

Who knows if Apple will be announcing anything other than the iPhone 6, but it does seem possible the elusive iWatch could finally pop up in early September.
