HTC introduced yet another 64-bit handset today. While other OEMs haven't brought out their first 64-bit Smartphones, the Desire 820 is the second entrant in HTC's 64-bit Android range. Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, the Desire 820 is definitely an upper-range handset.
The CPU cores are divided into two blocks, both Cortex A53 architecture based. One block is clocked at 1.5 GHz, whereas the other is clocked at 1.0 GHz. Qualcomm has paired the Snapdragon 615 with its mid-range Adreno 405 GPU.
The HTC Desire 820 comes with a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, 16 GB internal storage, 13 MP rear and 8 MP front cameras, Cat. 4 LTE support, BoomSound speakers and Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6 on top. HTC has promised that it will update the Desire 820 to Android L as and when Google releases the new OS.
There's also 2 GB of RAM and a 2,600 mAh battery, all encompassed in a 7.74mm thick frame that is made of plastic. Certainly a nice upgrade over the Desire 816, eh? HTC will offer a dual-SIM variant of the Desire 820 as well.
HTC will begin selling the Desire 820 towards the end of September. Compatible Dot View case covers will be released alongside the phone. |
