Taiwan-based BIOS designer Insyde Software is expected to benefit from orders for Intel-based Android white-box tablets, as the CPU giant gradually expands its presence in the Android tablet market, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

Intel is aiming to ship 40 million tablet processors in 2014 and Insyde, which is an Intel-invested company, has received strong orders for related tablet BIOS recently and will start seeing its revenues benefit in the fourth quarter.

In the second half of the year, in addition to Windows-based tablets, Intel is also aggressively pushing Android-based tablets and has unveiled its Intel Reference Design for Android project for Android-based tablets during IDF 2014 to provide vendors assistance on hardware/software R&D, as well as resources on Google Mobile services and upgrades on Android systems.

Intel is also connecting its ODM partners such as Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) and Pegatron Technology and BIOS partners with tablet vendors to help them release inexpensive tablets in the shortest amount of time.

Insyde pointed out that its Insyde H2O UEFI BIOS has been adopted by many of Intel's vendor partners in their Windows and Android tablets.

Insyde H2O supports both Windows- and Android-based tablets using Intel Bay Trail-Entry series processors and features functions such as UEFI security boot-up, Android security shut-off, firmware over the air and 2M SPI + eMMC BIOS solution.
