Google today launched the first wave of Android One Smartphones in India. The Mountain View company decided to tap into India's growing market for Smartphones before any other. To achieve the same, it has partnered with three of India's top phone makers - Micromax, Karbonn and Spice.
The Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO and Karbonn Sparkle V are the first wave of Android One Smartphones to launch in India. All three of them are available as exclusives on Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal respectively, starting today.

Google announced 9 new Android One OEM partners, which includes the likes of HTC, Panasonic, ASUS, Alcatel, Acer, Lenovo and many other Indian phone makers such as Xolo, Lava and Intex.
Additionally, future Android One Smartphones could be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets. The initial wave of devices are all based on a quad-core MediaTek chipset.
Google will launch the Android One program in many other Asian countries, such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka by the end of 2014. |
