Sony is forecasting a $2.1 billion loss, which is an increase compared to the company's previous financial predictions. The new loss prediction is based upon trouble in Sony's mobile division. Sony says the mobile side of the company has not seen as many sales as it had hoped for, so revisions had to be made to the financial reports.

Since the Xperia line is not doing well on the market, Sony is trying to "reduce risk and volatility", but to get to an area of reduced risk, the company is predicting a $2.1 billion total loss for the financial year.

Sony plans to stick with mobile phones, but it will be spending more time on the high-end with flagships like the Xperia Z3 that are selling more.

Almost all of the sales issues are being blamed on the mid and entry-level Sony phones, since those devices have more competition from other budget manufacturers.
