Tablet panels sized 7-inches have remained flat on month from mid-August to mid-September while 10-inch panels have dropped 1%, according to statistics from DisplaySearch.

Most brands are aggressively pushing tablet panel shipments to meet their schedules for the upcoming holiday promotional sales season in the fourth quarter of 2014. White-box makers are planning to refill inventory for fourth-quarter promotions as well, the firm noted.

However, IC supply remains tight due to rising demand for larger-size smartphones. Additionally, tablet panel prices will trend downward due to lower specifications, but they will become more stable than before.

The average price for a 7-inch tablet panels during mid-September reached US$24 while pricing for 10-inch units reached about US$37, added DisplaySearch.
