Under large pressure due to booming sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and new iPad models possibly to be launched in the fourth quarter and Apple Watch expected to be launched in February or March 2015, global demand for non-Apple consumer notebooks and tablets is likely to remain weak in the fourth quarter of 2014 through to the second quarter of 2015 when Microsoft launches Windows 10, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
In addition to notebooks, demand for Samsung Electronics, Sony and High-Tech Computer's (HTC) flagship smartphones has also dropped worldwide recently.
In additional news, Apple reportedly is planning to add Pegatron Technology as an extra ODM partner for its iPhone 6 Plus starting the first quarter of 2015, in addition to Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), because of strong demand. Pegatron is expected to receive 20% of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus orders for the quarter. |
