Taiwan home electronics vendor Chimei is aiming to sell 6,000 Ultra HD TVs in 2014, up from 3,000 in 2013, according to the company.
Chimei is continuing to develop new Ultra HD TVs and is now tackling the Taiwan market with a new 65-inch unit that features wide color gamut (WCG) Ultra HD TV panel technology from AU Optronics (AUO).
The penetration rate of Ultra HD TVs in Taiwan during 2014 is expected to be around 1-2%, the company noted.
Adding to Chimei's Ultra HD applications are 28-inch commercial displays which are expected to reach 2,000-3,000 units.
Additionally, Chimei's LCD TV sales have reached about 120,000 in 2014 so far and are on target to hit the company's goal of 200,000 by the end of the year to hold about a 17-18% share in the Taiwan market.
About 80% of Chimei's revenues come from LCD TVs and 20% home appliances, the company added. |
