Commenting on the company's recent performance, Acer CEO Jason Chen said the company enjoyed strong sales in China during the country's National Day holidays starting October 1, but refused to unveil more details. Chen expects overall PC shipments to stay flat on year in 2015, but believes Chromebooks, 2-in-1s and gaming notebooks will be the focus for the year and Acer will release corresponding products.

Chen said Acer is currently the largest Chromebook vendor worldwide, and although its 2-in-1 devices only account for a small portion of shipments, the business still has strong potential. The company will also become more aggressive about the gaming notebook business.

As for market watchers' concerns that Acer's component shortage issues could impact its operations, Chen said that Acer is taking a rather cautious attitude over handling its inventory management and order placement with the supply chain.

The company is seeing tight supply for panels and batteries, but the issues are unlikely to affect its shipments, Chen said.

Acer achieved strong sequential (12.3%) and on-year shipment (11.4%) growths in the third quarter thanks to PC shipment rises, strong sales for its Chromebooks, and positive feedback about its 2-in-1 products, according to IDC's latest figures. Acer's share in the PC market was 8.4% in the third quarter.
