Alleged Apple iPad Air 2 Geekbench benchmark results reveal that the Apple A8X chipset powering the new tablet actually has a 3-core CPU. Apple hasn't exactly shared many details about the A8X chipset, except for saying that it performs x% faster than older iPads.

For now, it looks like the iPad Air 2 has a 3-core CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. That's two firsts for an Apple device (moving beyond dual-core chipsets, and exceeding 1 GB of RAM).
