China-based vendor Huawei Device shipped 32.03 million handsets in the third quarter of 2014, with 16.8 million units being smartphones, increasing on year by 26%, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

Of the smartphone shipments, over 30% were for LTE-enabled models, the sources noted.

While the China market accounted for more than 50% of Huawei Device's third-quarter smartphone shipments, shipments in Africa and the Middle East rose on year by 322%, those in Asia Pacific by 98% and those in Latin America by 51%, the sources said.

Huawei Device launched Ascend P7, a flagship smartphone model, in June 2014 and has sold three million units in more than 110 countries, the sources indicated.

Huawei Device aims to ship 80-100 million smartphones in 2014 and shipped 51 million units during the first three quarters, the sources said. As the fourth quarter is a peak season, Huawei Device expects to ship about 30 million smartphones.
