Earlier this year, MediaTek announced it will focus more on 4G-enabled chipsets for entry/mid-range devices, but according to new leaked roadmap it won't leave high-end market. The roadmap reveals that the company is preparing two new 64-bit octa-core chipsets for 2015.
The first SoC is a successor to the octa-core MT6572 that was the company's top SoC. The new 64-bit MT6753 features eight Cortex-A53 cores, where four cores run at 1.3 GHz and other at 1.5 GHz. It adds more 3G/4G bands and CDMA2000 1x and EVDO Rev A. There is ARM Mali T760 GPU and 16 MP camera support.
The other chipset, MediaTek MT6753M, is just stripped down version of the MT6753 and supports qHD resolution and up to 8 MP cameras. Both SoCs should arrive in H2 of 2015. |
