Elpida Memory has developed a 2Gb DDR2 mobile RAM for smartphones and tablet PCs, according to the company. The new DDR2 is manufactured using a 40nm process at Elpida's Hiroshima plant.
Sample shipments of the new 2Gb DDR2 mobile RAM will begin in August with mass production slated for September.
The new 2Gb DDR2 mobile RAM operates at 1.2V, and achieves a data transfer speed of up to 1066Mpbs. It also reaches 8.5GB/second for a 64-bit system configuration.
Elpida said it plans to ship the new DDR2 as a bare chip for MCP and to configure it for PoP and FBGA packages. The company's FBGA package fully leverages die-stacking technology to provide an extensive line-up of 2Gb to 8Gb products that can meet a variety of customer needs, the company stated. |
