Along with the N3 smartphone, Oppo was also preparing another smartphone. While we didn't have any details about the second device, the company has officially announced it today. The Oppo R5 is the world's new thinnest smartphone, measuring only 4.85 mm.

Compared to its predecessor Oppo R3 that was 6.3 mm thick, the new R5 managed to shave quite a bit of thickness, beating the 5.5 mm-thick Gionee Elife S5.1. Despite being crazy thin, the R5 sports impressive specifications.
A 5.2-inch AMOLED screen comes with 1080p support and is powered by an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC, 2 GB of RAM and a 2,000 mAh battery. It has a 5 MP front and a 13 MP rear cameras with f/2.0 aperture, LTE support and 16 GB of internal storage that is not expandable.
The R5 comes with Android 4.4-based Coloer OS 2.0 out-of-the-box and will cost $499. The company has yet to release details on exact launch date. |
