Amazon senior VP of devices David Limp says that one of the main causes of the Fire Phone's low sales figure was bad pricing. The Fire Phone was originally available starting at $199, but it then dropped to just $99 a couple months later. Limp says the original price was not accurately matched with what the phone had to offer at the time.

Sales numbers remain a secret, but Amazon's latest financial report revealed the company was sitting on $83 million worth of Fire Phone units. The smartphone has weighed heavily on the company, and it even caused an immediate $170 million deficit.

With Limp's expectations and reviews from consumers, it seems the Fire Phone has failed for a variety of reasons. Even with the phone available at a lower price, it doesn't look like it is in the direction of turning around anytime soon.
