LCD TV sales are expected to reach around five million during the holiday period in the fourth quarter of 2014 in North America.
Sources at AU Optronics (AUO) said the TV market is recovering in North America, with the US market seeing 5% sales growth in the third quarter of 2014. Panel surface-area shipped increased 14% during the quarter, and the average-sized TV panel shipped reached 41.4-inch.
Going into the fourth quarter, demand for TVs sized 40- to 65-inch will increase as will Ultra HD, the sources said, adding that holiday demand will push sales to around five million units to represent 6% on-quarter growth.
Meanwhile, TV demand in Europe is continuing to climb after witnessing 10% on-year growth in the third quarter while demand in Latin America in the fourth quarter will push a double-digit growth in TV sales in the region during 2014.
In China, TV sales growth has been limited, but online sales increased 8% in the third quarter, driven by new sales strategies from vendors. Ultra HD TV demand is continuing to rise, reaching a 27% penetration rate over the October 1 holiday period. |
