China United Network Communications (China Unicom) aims to sell 100 million FDD-LTE/TD-LTE dual-mode terminal devices in 2015, according to a report.
In line with the sales goal, the TD-LTE licensee will allocate a budget of CNY5 billion (US$816 million) for purchase subsidies and sales commission, the report from Tencent said. The China-based telecom carrier has cooperated with local vendors Coolpad, Huawei Device, Lenovo, Vivo and ZTE to unveil dual-mode devices and plans to launch 91 models of such devices by the end of 2014.
China Unicom started constructing FDD-LTE/TD-LTE convergence trail networks in main cities in June 2014 and aims at a peak mobile Internet download speed of 100Mbps for FDD-LTE and 150Mbps for TD-LTE. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is expected to soon release FDD-LTE licenses. |
