Notebook ODM Inventec saw consolidated revenues for the third quarter of 2014 decrease on quarter and on year mainly due to shrinking shipments of notebooks, and hopes that non-notebook product lines, including AIO (all-in-one) PCs, tablets, servers and hand-held devices, will drive business growth in 2015, the company said at an investors conference on November 7.
Inventec has received fewer ODM orders for consumer notebooks to be shipped in 2015 from Hewlett-Packard and Toshiba, the company said.
Inventec Appliances, Inventec's wholly-owned subsidiary, expects to ship 50 million handsets and other hand-held devices in 2014, exceeding its target shipments of 45 million units, company CEO David Ho said. Inventec Appliances is a major smartphone ODM for China-based vendor Xiaomi Technology, accounting for about 50% of Xiaomi's smartphone shipments.
Of consolidated revenues for the third quarter, 50% came from notebooks, AIO PCs and tablets, nearly 30% from servers and about 15% from handsets and other hand-held devices, Inventec indicated. |
