This year, Google has taken over the K-12 education market. A new report from IDC shows that in that market in 2014, Chromebooks were the best selling device in the laptop and tablet category. Many schools and school districts are leaving behind expensive devices and switching to functional but inexpensive Chromebooks.

Not only are the base prices for Chromebooks low, there are large discounts for schools when they buy Chrome devices in bulk. For the same price as one iPad, multiple Chromebooks can be purchased.

Google must now convince the rest of the market that Chromebooks can replace other devices in markets outside of education.
