Apple's A8 chip was the first 64-bit SoC for smartphones and although it has only two cores, it is powerful enough. According to the latest test, the chip, which is used in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, appears to be capable of handling 4K video playback.

While no iPhone 6 smartphones support 4K resolution, the discovery was made by the developers of WALTR. The app developers found that the phones can play 4K videos even if the support is not officially announced.
