As Ultra HD technology is gaining popularity in the Taiwan market, LG Electronics has seen its sales revenues from Ultra HD TVs increase over 6% in 2014 but overall the company's TV sales will be down in the market, according to the company.
LG also experienced an overall 7% on-year decline in TV sales revenues in the Taiwan market during August-October of the year.
The company has increased its sales of larger-size TVs in order to stay profitable, but is seeing its market share drop to just over 10% in 2014, said LG.
The Taiwan TV market is expected to be flat in 2014 and price wars have continued to intensify, with local vendors bumping up efforts to release cheaper, large-size units compared to international competitors.
As a result, vendors such as Chimei expect to see a 10% on-year sales increase from September-November, with Ultra HD TV sales increasing threefold. Additionally, the company's sales proportion of 48-inch and above size TVs will reach 15-20%.
Meanwhile, BenQ said it saw a 15% on-year increase in sales revenues during September-November due to imrpoved product mixes. The company will release new curved wide-color gamut (WCG) Full HD TVs in 2015 and expects related sales to reach between 10,000-20,000 units. BenQ will focus on shipments of 65-inch units with NTSC 90% in 2015, said the company, adding that WCG units will make up 10% of the company's overall LCD TV sales in 2014, rising to 20% in 2015. |
