Taiwan-based vendor Acer on December 9 unveiled an Android 4.4.4 4G smartphone, Liquid Jade S, for launch in the Taiwan market on December 18 at a contract-free retail price of NT$6,990 (US$225), according to the company.
Liquid Jade S features a MediaTek-developed MT6752 64-bit 8-core 1.5GHz processor, a 5.0-inch 1,280x720 IPS touch screen, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, a 13-megapixel rear camera with aperture of f/1.8 and a 5-megapixel front camera, dimensions of 143 (H) by 69 (W) by 7.78 (D)mm and a weight of 116g, Acer said.
Liquid Jade S will be available for contract-bundle sale by Chunghwa Telecom at a price of NT$790 with a monthly charge of NT$636 or that of NT$0 with monthly charge rate of NT$936. The smartphone is produced by China-based ODM SIM Technology.
Acer expects to sell 100,000 smartphones in the Taiwan market in 2014, hiking by 66.7% on year, the company indicated. In the Taiwan smartphone market, Acer will focus on mid-range models priced at NT$5,000-7,000 and with high performance-cost ratios and aims to be among the top five vendors by the end of 2015, the company said. |
