As promised, Vivo has officially announced its newest X5 Max handset. Thanks to various leaks, we could assume that this would be the world's thinnest phone and now it is, measuring only 4.75 mm. The previous thinnest phone was the Oppo R5, which is only 0.1 mm thicker.

Despite being so thick, Vivo X5 Max packs some serious hardware. The 5.5-inch Super AMOLED is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. It also has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony's IMX214 sensor and an LED flash, and there is a 5-megapixel front snapper.

Unlike its competitor, the X5 Max features a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual SIM slots - a microSIM and nanoSIM that can also be used as a microSD card slot. It runs Android 4.4.4-based Funtouch OS 2.0. The handset will go on sale on December 22 for CNY 2,998 ($480).
