DRAM maker ProMOS Technologies is likely to post its 13th straight quarterly losses for the second quarter of 2010, as the investment gain through selling one of its fabs will not be fully recognized until the third quarter, according to market watchers.
However, ProMOS was able to narrow its net losses to less than NT$1 billion (US$32 million) in the second quarter from NT$3.23 billion in the prior quarter, on a smooth transition to 63nm process technology, the watchers indicated.
The watchers expect ProMOS to restore profitability in the third quarter.
ProMOS saw revenues amount to NT$6.4 billion in the second quarter, growing by almost 200% from NT$2.14 billion generated during the same period of 2009.
ProMOS will hold an investors conference on August 31 to review its second-quarter performance and provide business outlook.
