There are few devices that can be released and still be hard to find months later outside of new iPhones. Both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have been hard to come by in retail stores since the devices were released in September. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has been following the availability of the phones for months and finally has some good news.
In November, Munster found that around 1 percent of Apple retail stores in the United States had the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in stock, but that has grown to 56 percent this month. Availability had stayed around 1 percent in September, October and November.
The phones are available in multiple sizes and colors, whereas early buyers were stuck with just one or two options at best. Availability was supposed to be at 100 percent by the end of this quarter, but Piper Jaffray now expects availability to only reach 80 percent by the end of the year. |
