Apple and Samsung Electronics have been offering price cuts for their tablet products for the year-end holidays recently, looking to boost their sales performances for the fourth quarter. Apple will have a chance to sell around 20 million iPads in the fourth quarter, while Samsung's tablet sales may reach 12 million units, according to sources from channel retailers.
Samsung is now offering its 8.4-inch 16GB Galaxy Tab Pro at US$249, down US$50 from the original price, while its entry-level 7-inch 8GB Galaxy Tab 4's price has also been reduced to US$129.
Meanwhile, Samsung's 8-inch LTE-ready Galaxy Tab 4 is now selling for below US$150, only half its launch price. Samsung is also offering a US$100 discount for its 12.2-inch Galaxy Tab Pro.
Apple is providing US$10-50 price cuts for its previous-generation iPad products and defending the high-end segment with its new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. In the fourth quarter, Apple's tablet sales are expected to rise to around 20 million units, up from 12.3 million units in the third. |
