Memory controller IC supplier Phison Electronics has announced revenues for July 2010 grew 17% on month to NT$2.82 billion (US$88.987 million), thanks to price stabilization of NAND flash chips and demand increases in the end-user market.
Phison saw revenues score a record high of NT$3.23 billion in March. However, sales in April and May were hit by the impact of Europe's credit crisis and slow sales in China, according to market watchers. The latter was due to a government probe of IC component smuggling, the watchers pointed out.
Phison had over 10% sequential drops in both April and May revenues. June sales rose 5.1% on month to NT$2.41 billion, prior to a larger increase in July.
Phison will hold an investors conference on August 18 to review its performance in the second quarter, and guidance for the third quarter.
Revenues for fellow memory controller design house Skymedi slid 6.3% sequentially to NT$209 million in July, ending a run of on-month growth since March, according to the latest figures released by the company.
The watchers indicated that Skymedi has seen little impact from Europe's credit crisis. Orders of microSD controllers from Samsung Electronics allowed the company's revenues to exceed the NT$200 million mark for the third straight month in July.
