The value of the ruble in Russia has fallen significantly, and that has resulted in the iPhone 6 rising in price by 35 percent in the area. Consumers are able to purchase the iPhone 6 from Apple in the country again--purchases were temporarily halted--but to get the phone, consumers will have to pay a lot more than usual.
The iPhone 6 16 GB now goes for $978 and the 128 GB model is a whopping $1265, according to a report in Bloomberg.
Since the ruble has lost 30 percent of its value in just the last quarter, Apple has been worried about selling devices in the country and then losing money if the value continues to drop. That has resulted in the need for steep price hikes to combat the falling value of the currency compared to the US Dollar. |
