MediaTek's shipments of 4G LTE chips for 2014 are set to reach 30-40 million units, a China Business News (CBN) report cited Aaron Chang, head of the company's China operations, as saying.

Phones featuring MediaTek's 4G solutions are expected to account for 20-30% of all terminal devices rolled out by China Mobile in 2014, Chang was quoted as saying in the report.

With China Unicom set to promote 4G smartphones, MediaTek's shipments of 4G solutions are expected to grow further in 2015, Chang reportedly said.

MediaTek president Hsieh Ching-chiang said previously that the company's shipments of 4G chips would increase robustly in 2015. In 2014, shipments are set to exceed 30 million units accounting for about 20% of the company's overall handset-IC shipments for the year, according to Hsieh.
