A Sony VAIO smartphone might be on its way to CES 2015 in just a few days. Nikkei reports that VAIO Corporation will release an Android smartphone next year in partnership with Japan Communications. Rumors state the Android device has a 5-inch display and will have a special app for managing email, phone and video calls.
Most of the VAIO division at Sony was sold off this year to Japan Industrial Partners, though the part of it that remains is working on the phone. Sony also has a 5 percent stake in the VAIO division that was sold.
Nikkei expects the phone to have a mid-range price tag, so the VAIO Android phone won't necessarily be a flagship. |
