Xiaomi made an announcement today stating that the company sold 61.1 million Smartphones in the year 2014. The Chinese company, barely a handful of years old, surpassed their goal of 60 million shipments, having sold 26.1 million Smartphones in 1H 2014 and the remainder in 2H. Note that 61.1 million is a 326% year-over-year increase over the 18.7 million shipments in 2013 made by Xiaomi. Impressive? Most definitely!

With the new Redmi 2 and a troop of other devices in the pipeline, Xiaomi has even higher aims for the year 2015. The company hopes to achieve even higher shipments by expanding to more countries.
