LG's roadmap for the coming years includes 1.5 million OLED panel sales in 2016. The company says that a new OLED division at LG Display has been created with the goal of "developing, promoting and selling the technology." At a press conference, LG Display CEO Han Sang-beom said its 1.5 million panels will be for the high-end display market.

Though the number itself is not massive, Sang-beom says 1.5 million is a lot when it is specifically for the high-end market. LG claims more attention will be drawn to OLED tech as a result of it taking over the high-end market.

At CES, LG has also shown an 8K display that is 98-inches and other televisions and panels. LG as a whole will focus on OLED in 2015 and 2016 while still promoting some LCD TVs.

This year, LG Display expects to move 600,000 OLED panels.
