Panel shipments to China LCD TV vendors in December 2014 increased 22% on year but iare expected to fall by as much as 30% on year in the first quarter of 2015 as the vendors enter a slowing period.

In November alone the China market saw a 4% on-year decline in TV sales, with inventories reaching 8-10 weeks, said DisplaySearch. Additionally, vendors began preparing for Lunar New Year sales and began stocking up, which will affect shipments in early 2015.

Global TV panel shipments meanwhile are expected to drop about 13% sequentially in the first quarter of 2015 due to low demand in January and February. Demand in China and in many other nations is expected to pick up in March.
