China-based smartphone vendor Coolpad is currently marketing its smartphones in three brands - Coolpad, Great God and ivvi, and shipments of its Great God-series handsets are expected to reach 15-20 million units in fiscal 2015 (from April 2015 to March 2016), according to industry sources.
The Great God-branded smartphones are designed for sales through Internet, with total shipments to reach 10 million units in fiscal 2014, indicated the sources.
The Great God F1- and F2-series models launched in 2014 targeted the sub-CNY1,000 (US$161) segment. However, the recently released Great God X7 is targeting at the CNY2,000-segment, said the sources.
The X7 is powered either by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 802 quad-core CPU or MediaTek M6595 8-core CPU, and features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display and Corning III Gorilla glass. Prices will range from CNY1,599-1,999 for different versions.
Meanwhile, Coolpad has also set up a joint venture with China-based Internet security solution vendor Qihoo 360 to develop and operate the Great God-branded smartphones, said the sources. |
