Chip packagers Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL), and testing specialists King Yuan Electronics Company (KYEC) and Sigurd Microelectronics will see sales rebound in the second half of August 2010 after a weak July.
The positive forecast is largely due to a recovery by customers; in particular MediaTek, which should see its revenues bottom out in July and begin to bounce back in August and September thanks to China's labor day holidays in October.
ASE has estimated revenues of its ATM (assembly test and material) unit will grow 5-6% sequentially in the third quarter, July sales generated from the core business grew only 1% on month to NT$11.21 billion (US$351 million).
SPIL expects to generate sequential revenue growth through October, chairman Bough Lin said at a company investors conference. SPIL saw consolidated revenues grow 0.8% sequentially to NT$5.52 billion in July.
KYEC's July sales were up 0.3% from the previous record of NT$1.31 billion in June, with the sequential growth being slower than the pace of increase seen over the prior four months, according to financial data released by the IC testing house.
Fellow IC tester Sigurd saw consolidated revenues slide 3.5% on month to NT$435 million in July, ending a run of sequential growth since March.
Both KYEC and Sigurd expect their revenues for the third quarter to grow at a single-digit rate on quarter. |
