There were an estimated 46.059 million notebooks shipped globally during the fourth quarter of 2014, increasing by 3.1% on quarter and remaining unchanged on year, according to Digitimes Research.
Hewlett-Packard (HP) was the largest vendor accounting for 23.0% of the shipments, followed by Lenovo with 22.4%, Dell with 11.4%, Asustek Computer with 10.0%, Acer with 8.7%, Apple with 8.4%, Toshiba with 5.6%, Samsung Electronics with 2.2% and Fujitsu with 1.3%, Digitimes Research indicated.
Taiwan-based ODMs together shipped 36.609 million notebooks in the quarter, taking up 79.5% of the global total with growth of 0.2% on quarter and a drop of 6.6% on year. Quanta Computer accounted for 33.0% of the shipments, Compal Electronics for 31.4%, Wistron for 15.8%, Inventec for 7.5% and Pegatron for 6.9%.
Of Taiwan-based ODMs' fourth-quarter shipments, 46.4% were of 15-inch models, 23.2% 14-inch ones, 12.3% 13-inch ones, 2.7% 12-inch ones, 8.9% below 12-inch ones and 6.6% 16- and above inch ones. |
