Samsung has publicly denied talks between it and BlackBerry about a potential acquisition. Though, a new report from the Financial Post says the acquisition may still take place, regardless of what Samsung says. The Financial Post reports BlackBerry "is still being pursued right now. Samsung is still evaluating their options. So it's still very much an open deal."
With that statement, it appears Samsung at least has the potential to buy BlackBerry, but talks aren't anywhere close to final. The Financial Post has mentioned a document prepared for Samsung by Evercore Partners from the end of 2014 that mentioned how BlackBerry could be acquired and integrated.
BlackBerry was reportedly shocked when Reuters reported on the possible deal. That is why the deal was denied. If Samsung goes off of Evercore's report when attempting to acquire the company, it could pay $13.35 to $15.49 per share.
The Financial Post has a good track record for BlackBerry rumors and reports. |
