Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) will make assisting its China-based handset clients including Xiaomi Technology, Meizu and MIT boost their sales to emerging markets one of its major goals in 2015, according to industry sources.
Xiaomi began to push its smartphones to a number of emerging markets, including Brazil, India, Indonesia, Russia and Turkey, in 2014 but initial results have been lower than expected, said the sources.
Xiaomi's foray into the India market was hampered by Ericsson's accusations that the China-based vendor has infringed on a number of its standard-essential patents, noted the sources.
Xiaomi may tie up with Foxconn to build plants in India and Brazil for smartphone production, with the project in India likely to begin implementation in 2015, the sources added. |
