According to a Reuters report, Sony is expected to announce 1,000 job cuts in its Smartphone division on February 2, 2015. These cuts will take place in addition to job cuts announced by the Sony Mobile division last year, which will be completed by March 2016. Sony's end goal is to cut 5,000 jobs by then.
Sony Mobile's workforce is going to shrink by 30%, as a result. These job cuts are expected to be announced in the company's earnings report.
Sony Mobile will reportedly post a $1.9 billion loss in the forthcoming earnings report. The Japanese giant is looking at various options, including selling off their Smartphone business. |
