A new report by Counterpoint counters a report by Canalys published yesterday. Canalys' report suggested that indigenous phone maker Micromax had dethroned world-leader Samsung in India. India, which is the world's largest developing market for mobile phones, is really important to Samsung.

Counterpoint's report suggests that Samsung still holds the leading market share, in terms of mobile phone shipments, in India. While Micromax has a hold of 14.4% of the market, Samsung is slightly ahead with 16.1% of the market share. Meanwhile, Microsoft comes in at third place with 11% of the market.

If we talk strictly about Smartphones, Samsung has a 27.4% market share. Meanwhile, Micromax is at 19.5%, and the third place is taken by Intex at 6.5%.

India is the third largest Smartphone market in the world. 22 million Smartphones were shipped in India in Q4 2014 alone.
